Check Point named Leader in Gartner hybrid mesh firewall

Check Point has been named a Leader in Gartner's 2026 Magic Quadrant for Hybrid Mesh Firewall, as the cyber security company expands its network security offerings around artificial intelligence.
It tied the ranking to its Hybrid Mesh Network Security strategy and the recent launch of its AI Network Firewall, designed to let organisations apply AI-related security controls through existing physical firewall deployments rather than adding separate infrastructure.
Hybrid mesh firewall has become a closely watched segment of the security market as companies seek to manage protection across on-premise systems, cloud environments, remote users and a growing number of internet-facing applications. The category reflects the spread of security controls beyond a single corporate perimeter into multiple connected environments.
Check Point is using the Gartner ranking to reinforce a broader argument that AI adoption is creating new pressures for security teams. Businesses are rolling out AI applications, autonomous agents, workforce AI tools and specialised infrastructure even as visibility into their use remains limited, it said.
According to research cited by Check Point, only 5% of organisations have full visibility into AI tool usage across their estate. It also said the window for exploiting software vulnerabilities has narrowed from days to hours, while AI-assisted intrusions are becoming more common.
AI focus
That backdrop has pushed security vendors to reposition established network products for AI-era risks. Check Point said it is combining threat prevention, threat intelligence and unified management in one platform so customers can apply the same protections across users, applications, AI workloads and infrastructure.
It also highlighted work on what it calls AI data centre security, aimed at sovereign AI data centres and neocloud operators, including projects developed with NVIDIA. The scope includes perimeter security, segmentation, and protection for AI workloads and GPU clusters.
Another element is agentic network security orchestration, which Check Point described as AI-driven automation for policy management, Zero Trust programmes, compliance work and security operations. The emphasis reflects a wider industry trend as vendors try to reduce manual administration while security teams manage more fragmented environments.

Customer example
Check Point also pointed to customer use of its AI security products to demonstrate practical demand. Dropbox was cited as one organisation using Check Point AI Agent Security as it expands generative AI across its product lines.
The reference centres on operational concerns many buyers have raised about AI security products, especially latency, deployment overhead and whether security controls create friction for application teams. Those concerns have become more prominent as businesses move AI systems from pilot projects into production.

"Check Point's AI Agent Security has given us the security foundation we need to scale GenAI confidently across our product lines. As we continue expanding our AI capabilities, we know we have centralized protection that won't become a bottleneck."
The announcement also highlights how firewall suppliers are trying to protect their position as customer spending shifts towards AI-related controls. Rather than treating AI security as a separate niche, vendors are increasingly integrating it into existing network, cloud and endpoint product lines in an effort to remain central to enterprise security architecture.
Check Point said its platform protects more than 100,000 organisations worldwide, giving it a large installed base to target with AI-focused add-ons and management tools. The company argues that the network remains the most practical point from which to monitor and govern AI use across users, applications, agents and infrastructure.
For buyers, the Gartner placement is likely to be one of several data points rather than a purchasing decision on its own. But in a crowded firewall and broader cyber security market, rankings of this kind still carry weight because they influence procurement shortlists and shape how vendors frame their strategy to customers and investors.
