Sumo Logic has made its Intelligent Security Operations Platform generally available on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, targeting organisations operating in Europe.
The launch brings Sumo Logic's security and log analytics tools to an AWS cloud environment designed to keep infrastructure and data within the European Union and separate from AWS's existing regions.
Customers with strict data residency and operational control requirements can run Sumo Logic's security monitoring services in a sovereign cloud setting while keeping security telemetry in the EU.
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is aimed at European governments and enterprises that need tighter assurances over where data sits and how services are operated. The new availability is intended to help customers balance cyber defence needs with local privacy and sovereignty requirements.
Demand for such arrangements has risen as businesses adopt more AI tools and face greater regulatory scrutiny over where data is processed and stored. In Europe, that pressure has been especially acute in regulated sectors such as finance and public services.
In the new environment, Sumo Logic is offering its Cloud SIEM and log analytics products. The platform is designed to help security teams investigate incidents, assess risks and monitor infrastructure for attacks.
Its Logs for Security product collects cloud logs from services including AWS, Google Cloud and Azure. Cloud SIEM adds threat detection, behavioural baselines and automated investigations intended to reduce false positives and help analysts identify suspicious activity more quickly.
Sovereignty focus
The announcement reflects a broader shift in the European cloud market, where sovereignty has become a board-level issue rather than a technical preference. Companies operating across borders increasingly want cloud services that support local control, governance and regulatory alignment without giving up access to modern security tools.
Eric Avery, Global Head of Infrastructure and Data at Sumo Logic, highlighted that tension in customer demand.
"Customers have to meet their goals around securing data at scale, but they also have to conform to data sovereignty and protection regulations. In a recent survey, 82% of our European-based customers said that data sovereignty was extremely or very important to them. Organisations in more regulated sectors have strict rules to follow, but they still want to innovate with AI securely in the cloud," Avery said.
He added: "Using AWS' European Sovereign Cloud infrastructure to deliver our intelligent security operations platform ensures companies can achieve reliable and scalable security while running those services on a trusted platform that is deployed locally in Europe."
Industry analysts have also highlighted sovereignty as a growing concern for senior executives. Sumo Logic cited research indicating that technological sovereignty is now a key issue for many chief executives and executive committees, particularly as AI adoption increases interest in local control over data, operations and technology.
Customer interest
Customer comments in the announcement suggest demand is coming from software and financial services groups with international operations and heavy compliance burdens.
Kal Patel, SVP of Platform Engineering & Developer Experience at Genesys, said availability on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud matters for the company's regulatory requirements.
"Sovereignty requires clear control over data, strong governance and the ability to build trust across every interaction. Sumo Logic's availability on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud is of utmost importance in helping Genesys meet evolving global regional requirements while supporting secure, compliant operations. This is foundational to how we deliver AI-powered experience orchestration through Genesys Cloud while maintaining the transparency and control our customers all over the world expect."
OpenPayd, a fintech platform, also linked the move to its compliance and security priorities in Europe.
"Data sovereignty and regional presence are critical elements of our security and compliance strategy as a global fintech platform. We are particularly excited about the AWS European Sovereign Cloud because it enhances data residency and regulatory alignment within Europe. For our business, this provides greater assurance around operational independence and evolving European compliance standards. Ultimately, it enables us to support customers with strict regulatory requirements while continuing to scale securely and confidently across the region," said Mariya Harseva, Director of Platform and Security at OpenPayd.
For Sumo Logic, the availability expands its footprint across AWS infrastructure while addressing a European concern that has become central to cloud buying decisions. For customers, the proposition is simpler: use security operations tools in an environment built around EU data location and operational separation.
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud infrastructure is entirely located within the EU and operates independently from existing regions.
