Token.io has appointed Gil Danziger as Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director of Token GmbH, adding a new technology leader to the Pay by Bank infrastructure provider.
Danziger joins from Mondu, where he was Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer. At Token.io, he will lead the engineering organisation alongside his role at the company's German entity.
He brings more than 25 years of experience in software engineering and technology leadership, including work on payments systems, compliance infrastructure and multi-country engineering teams.
Before joining Token.io, Danziger helped build Mondu's engineering, product, data and cybersecurity functions. That work included a modular payments and lending platform serving merchants and financial institutions across the EEA, the UK and the US.
His experience also includes operating under e-money regulatory frameworks in the EU and overseeing compliance infrastructure tied to ISO 27001 and PCI DSS standards. Earlier in his career, he held Chief Technology and Product Officer and other senior technology roles at AppLift, Glispa and Vehiculum, and worked in senior positions at HP and Micro Focus.
Token.io provides account-to-account payment infrastructure for banks, fintechs, platforms and payment companies. Its partners include three of Europe's five largest financial institutions, as well as payments groups such as Mastercard, ACI Worldwide and Global Payments.
The appointment comes as Pay by Bank providers seek to expand their role in digital payments across the UK and Europe. Account-to-account payments have drawn interest from financial institutions and payment companies looking for alternatives to card-based transactions.
Todd Clyde, Chief Executive Officer of Token.io, said: "Gil has a rare combination of deep technical expertise and proven commercial acumen in payments. His experience building scalable payment infrastructure from the ground up, operating under regulatory frameworks and delivering at pace makes him the ideal leader to take our platform to the next level. As Pay by Bank enters its next phase of growth, Gil's leadership will be instrumental in ensuring Token.io's technology continues to lead the market."
Danziger studied Computer Science at Tel Aviv University. His appointment gives Token.io a senior executive with experience across software development, payments and regulated financial technology operations.
He described the role as an opportunity to lead the engineering team behind the company's Pay by Bank infrastructure.
Danziger said: "Token.io is at the forefront of a fundamental shift in how Europe pays. The opportunity to lead the engineering organisation behind the leading Pay by Bank infrastructure in the market is incredibly exciting. I look forward to working with the team to deliver innovation at scale, further strengthen our platform's performance and deliver the infrastructure our partners need to grow their businesses with Pay by Bank."
The new appointment also underscores Token.io's strategic commitment to expanding its footprint within Germany and the wider European market. By strengthening its leadership team under German regulatory frameworks, the provider is well-positioned to navigate upcoming compliance shifts across the Eurozone.
Ultimately, Danziger's dual role will be pivotal as the company continues to scale its infrastructure to meet the rising enterprise demand for account-to-account transactions.
